New Airbnb: Modern with a Touch of Sophisticated Feminine
Our second Airbnb is one of my favs! I recently shared the first unit in this post and can’t wait to give you all the details on our second unit!
Both of our airbnbs have been up and running for awhile now and we have already learned so much. Keep an eye out for a post in the future on how my husband and I are managing them, what tools we use, etc. In the meantime I want to share with you all the design details I used in this unit.
In our first unit I chose a color combo of blues and yellows, a more classical approach with pops of colors. For this unit I wanted to do something different-if for no other reason than to just have fun making a whole new design. I chose dark brown furniture pieces, masculine leathers in dark browns and blacks and off set it with pale pinks to give the more masculine feel a softer edge. This space definitely feels more modern than our other airbnb unit.
For lighting I chose glass and gold lamps for sophistication and chose styles featuring exposed Thomas Edison style bulbs for a classy old world feel. I added a faux fur throw for a touch of luxury and re-used our oversized wall clock-with it’s old-world European look it fit right into the space.
When designing the eating area I wanted a mid-century modern table and orginally chose a round table, but discovered this oval shaped one fit much better and allowed for more seating-a plus for any airbnb host. I again kept the darker walnut wood finish and added the blush pink chairs to help lighten it up and add contrast. I repeated the green tones in the wall art.
In the bedroom I wanted to design a space that flowed with the rest of the house but what too matchy-matchy. I knew I needed to keep it sophisticated and modern but didn’t want to re-use the green and pink combo used in the living room. I chose a gray/black and gold color scheme. The gold is repeated in the light fixtures and the walnut finished wood is repeated in the furniture-adding cohesion throughout the home. To finish it off I added one green pillow as a final touch-the green is a great contrast in the room and ties in the rest of the green in the house.
In the bedroom I wanted to make sure I added a desk for a workspace or make-up table. It is always appreciated by guests and a must have for Airbnb owners! The art in this room uses a lot of modern round and square shapes so placing a round mirror here seemed fitting. I paired the desk with this shiny gold chair and love how it turned out!
As we did in our other unit, I tried to pepper in helpful tips and items. We again used frames to show the wifi codes and display house rules. I also added a calendar of neighborhood events in the kitchen and made sure to include books on the city for any out of town guests. Since renting out this place we have already had good reviews about these items and how guests have appreciated them.
