Decorative Motifs and Patterns
If you’ve been following my blog then you know I spent this last winter in Abu Dhabi and what I loved so much about being there was not just the weather but also the great architecture and textiles I saw. I have started a habit of bringing back pieces I can decorate my home with and this trip was no exception.
One of my favorite places that I visited was the House of Artisans and the Qasr Al Hosn-which was as close to a former castle as you can get there. I had the pleasure of touring the grounds and in one of the rooms they had the original decorative motifs or bas-reliefs, that were painted on the walls in the 1940s.
I loved they way they looked and the bright colors that were used. In the gift shop (yes I got sucked into the gift shop) they had postcards of the designs and I purchased a stack of them. Unsure what to do with them I brought them home none-the-less. I wanted to display them somehow in my home.
I found a collage frame that was cheap enough on Amazon and fit the postcards perfectly. I now have them displayed in my kitchen above the table. The colors actually go quite nicely with the rest of my home and I am very pleased with how well it seamlessly matches.
