Colors that will Evoke Strong Emotions in Your Home

I am a strong believer in the idea that your surroundings can shape you, and the colors of those surroundings are no exception. So while in the midst of a new design I like to think about the emotion I want the space to exude. Different colors can reflect different feelings and help shape the atmosphere of that room.

Serenity and Calmness

Try light grays, various blues and subdued greens. Think of water colors-they ebb and flow. There is a reason a lot of spas have water features.

Energy

Reds, Oranges and Yellows are on the warmer end of the color spectrum. They stand out, make a statement and demand to be noticed, creating a sense of alertness.

Passion

While more obvious to some, this one includes colors associated with love-reds and pinks. Red symbolizes heat and desire, while pink is its subtler version suggesting more tenderness.

Harmony

If you want to feel more grounded and wholesome stick close to greens and browns. These colors are often found naturally in nature and will make you feel more in tune with the earth.

Sophistication & Strength

Nothing is as classically timeless as white and black. Black suggests strength while white tends to suggest hope. The two together creates a powerful combination.
