See How I Built and Organized Our Closet in One Afternoon
I love when things are organized. It gives my OCD brain peace. Messes stress me. Clutter stresses me. So much of life can not be controlled and categorized, so when I CAN control something I like to make it as orderly as possible.
Case and point: My closet. After moving into a new property last year, my husband and I quickly got started on renovations. The house was dated, all the closets were missing doors and every wall in the house was painted a different color. One was blue-I mean bright blue, the other green, one pink, a few purple, yellow-you name it, all the colors were present.
After first painting the house from top to bottom (even the ceilings needed a new crisp white touch-up), we started on replacing all the doors. After that it was time to get down to the nitty-gritty and get the clothes moved in with everything organized!
Fortunately there are several closet organizers on the market. A friend told me about her success with Closet Maid and after viewing her swoon worthy closets, I was hooked. So, on a cold winter snow day I took the day at home as an opportunity to put my cluttered life back in order.
Closet Maid was super easy to use and even easier to install-which is great because I didn’t want something that needed a lot of cutting and sizing. (It is important to note that I am not being paid to advertise for them- I just love my new closet that much!). I’m good with a sander and a power drill, but if it requires much more than that I’ll likely pass.
A day’s worth of work and a load of stress and clutter removed from my life. Doesn’t get much better than that!
