Small Spaces Don't Have to Lack Character
I love looking at the design magazines and seeing gorgeous homes and design ideas for a huge space with existing character and one of a kind built-ins. But let’s be honest, that room would have looked great no matter what you did to it.
While having a gorgeous spacious kitchen is most people’s dream, what do you do if that is just not a reality for you? Can you still have a nice eat-in area if there is no room for even a standard table? Can you create comfortable and stylish seating with-out tearing down walls and building add-ons?
This was a question I recently asked myself in a galley kitchen I was designing. The existing space left no room for even a standard kitchen table. The solution? Some creativity and a wall-mounted drop-leaf table! I’m a big fan of this drop table because you can fold it down when you need more space and open it when you want to sit down and eat.
I added cute curtains* with a retro feel, dinnerware in a soft green and vintage chairs that I found at a thrift store for only 75 cents each. (I LOVE a good thrift store find!) Proof that you don’t have to sacrifice style or your budget without the large open concept floor-plan.
