Newest Obsession: Vintage Pyrex In Amish Butterprint
Our current dinnerware set is starting to see its fair share of love and ware. A soft mint green originally from Pottery Barn, I registered for it for my wedding…9 years ago. I would have thought it would have lasted longer but between 4 moves and various dishwasher mishaps, the set is not holding up like it used to.
I have been scouring the internet for cute ideas but keep coming back to the desire for nostalgic pieces, like vintage Pyrex and jadeite place settings! It has actually become a new hobby (obsession?) of mine. I am currently on the hunt for any Pyrex in the turquoise Amish Butterprint and the pink Daisy print. I just love those pinks and blues!
In the past two years I have been able to start a small collection of the blue and white Butterprint. (Originally manufactured from 1957 - 1968) With three bowls, a refrigerator container and one casserole dish, I am well on my way! I am still looking for that coveted pink Daisy (1956 - 1962), or that elusive pink and white Butterprint, that I have only seen in fairytales - but I’m determined to find some to add to my set!
I’ve also been dreaming about vintage Jadeite dinnerware, but after some research have discovered that it does not hold up well in the microwave. Created before microwaves were invented, the material has a tendency to crack when used in one. While The Pioneer Woman has a great collection currently at Walmart, it is also not recommended for microwaves-although it it dishwasher safe! Seeing as how my cooking style is really more just reheating, I will have to forgo the Jadeite for now.
In the meantime I plan to convert all my bowls and storage containers to fun pyrex prints. Below I found a chart with popular pyrex patterns - Let me know which ones are your favorite!
