Easy Retro Christmas Tree Skirt Anyone Can Make
My home was built somewhere in the 1940s and has a lot of retro charm already built into it. So when I started furnishing the place I definitely leaned into the vintage vibe. Now that it is Christmas I am doing the same. I’ve been collecting ornaments since I was a child so a lot of my tree decor is already considered “retro” but I was having no luck finding the perfect tree skirt. I wanted something festive and vintage with a more modern color palette. I searched for what felt like forever and finally decided to just make my own.
I knew it needed to be easy and quick, because I do not have the patience for anything requiring more. I was lucky enough to stumble upon this felt tree skirt pattern I purchased through Amazon .
To make the process even easier for myself I purchased a pre cut tree skirt base in white from Amazon. (Less than $10!!!) The only supplies left that I needed where squares of color felt to make the ornaments. I went to a local craft store and bought festive colors to match my existing holiday decor. To add some extra pizzaz I decided to use rick rack for the “string” the ornaments hang on and pom-pom trim for the outer edge of the skirt.
With the help of my mom and her sewing machine we sewed the whole thing together in one afternoon! We had so much fun together, I highly suggest it for any parent and their kids, it’s easy, quick, fun and you get a custom piece out of it!
SHORTCUT: If you really want to make things easier, skip the sewing and use a felt glue instead.
